Health & Safety

At Frank H. Dale Ltd, we understand that Health and Safety is critical to our business, believing it to not just be a regulatory requirement but a moral and strategic imperative. Our objective is to provide a safe and healthy environment for all employees and the public during our operations, while protecting the general health and well-being of our team.

We maintain the highest standards of Health and Safety and encourage all employees to play an active role in developing and improving safety practices across the business. The Company Directors lead by example, promoting a positive safety culture, ensuring Health & Safety remains central to our processes, and providing all staff with the support, training, and supervision needed to work safely.

A systematic process of risk reduction exists at every stage of our operations. This begins with design risk assessments, continues with the development of site-specific risk assessments for all aspects of our work, and is formalised into a comprehensive project-specific method statement that becomes the key document for the successful and safe completion of each project.

We recognise that the Health, Safety, and Welfare of all our employees and those affected by our work is an integral part of our business performance. Our company procedures and policies are always developed with our Health and Safety objectives in mind.

Health & Safety is given the highest priority in everything we do, from office based tasks through to the fabrication of our steel and the erection process on site.

H&S2

Our commitment to excellence is reflected through some of our achievements, including:

  • Health and Safety Award and Quality Commendation from Wates Construction
  • Supply Chain Partner of the Year from Galliford Try for “Excellence in Health and Safety”
  • Consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards, following four entries to the scheme between 2020-2023
  • Successfully implemented sustainable safety processes that drove a decade of continuous improvement, culminating in 2024 registering as FHD’s all-time lowest year for accident frequency.
  • Supporting the Herefordshire Health & Safety Group as a member since 1998

This commitment is underpinned by our certification to ISO45001:2018 which provides us with a robust framework to identify, manage and reduce workplace risks, leading to safer working environments for our employees. Holding certification since 2019, FHD was one of the first structural steel fabricators in the UK to receive the certification.

We also hold full accreditation to Constructionline Gold and Achilles Building Confidence, demonstrating our continued commitment to a safe and healthy working environment.
